From the new year 2025, traveling to Kashmir is going to become easier. Indian Railways is going to make this journey easier for the tourists as the obstruction of T-1 tunnel of the country’s most challenging and important Katra-Srinagar route has been removed now. Train service will start soon on this rail route. In such a situation, now a way is being prepared to directly connect Delhi and Kanyakumari to Srinagar. The target is to complete this project by 31 December, so that a direct train can run on this route in January. Railways is considering starting Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between New Delhi and Srinagar. PM Modi can launch this project on Republic Day. Discussions are going on with the PMO on this.

This Vande Bharat train will have stops only at big stations, like Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jammu Tawi, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This sleeper train will cover a distance of more than 800 kilometers in less than 13 hours. This train will leave from New Delhi at 7 pm and reach Srinagar at 8 am. Fares have been fixed for each class. The fare for Third AC will be ₹2000, Second AC will be ₹2500 and First Class will be ₹3000.
Vande Bharat Train: Here are the facilities available for passengers
This train has been designed keeping in mind the comfort of passengers. The train will be provided with modern facilities, like upgraded berths, better lighting and climate-controlled environment. It is believed that the launch of Vande Bharat Sleeper train will boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. Initially, this train will run only between New Delhi and Srinagar, but later there is a plan to extend this service till Baramulla. This extension will improve connectivity in North Kashmir, which will make travel easier for local people and tourists.
Vande Bharat Train: The challenging 111 km Katra-Banihal rail track is now complete.
Soon after the rail connectivity to Srinagar is established, there will be an increase in rail traffic and VVIP movement. The most difficult 111 km Katra-Banihal rail route of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link has been completed. This also includes the work of 3.2 km long T-1 tunnel in the middle of Katra residential area. Earlier, there were many difficulties in the size of this tunnel, for which the help of foreign experts was taken. Now all the obstacles of this project have been removed. According to the information, this project is now in its final phase. As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets time, Railways will officially announce the date of inauguration of this project.
This 272 km long rail route project is now in its final phase, in which the 111 km long section from Katra to Banihal was the most challenging. An arch bridge has been built in this section. In hilly areas, 97 percent of this track passes through tunnels or bridges. The task of making tunnels in the hilly areas of Reasi and Ramban was quite difficult.
Vande Bharat Train: The Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, has been constructed.
This project also includes the world’s highest Chenab Bridge. There are a total of 38 tunnels in this project, of which the largest tunnel is 12.75 km long. There are 927 bridges in it apart from Chenab Bridge. The length of Chenab Bridge is 1375 meters, the length of the archer is 467 meters and the height is 359 meters. This bridge which is approximately 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower is considered to be the tallest archer bridge in the world.
