RBI new guidelines: Banking calls will now come only from these two numbers

RBI new guidelines: There is a good news for mobile users of India! Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched a new initiative to protect mobile users from financial frauds. According to RBI’s new directive, now banks will use only two specific phone number series, one for transaction-related calls and the other for marketing calls.

RBI’s new guidelines

Transaction Calls: Now only from 1600 numbers

If you receive a call related to any transaction or financial matter, then it will be only from numbers starting with 1600. RBI has made this rule so that people can avoid fake calls and scams of fraudsters. If a fraudster calls you posing as a bank representative and the number does not start with 1600, then you should understand that the call is fake.

140 Series for Marketing Calls

RBI has decided one more phone number series which will be only for marketing calls and SMS notifications. If the bank is contacting you for offers like personal loans, credit cards, or insurance, then their number will start with 140. This will help you easily identify scam calls that give you false offers.

Sanchar Saathi App: Protection from Cyber Fraud

To avoid mobile frauds and fake calls, the Department of Telecommunications has launched an app named Sanchar Saathi. With the help of this app, you can directly report cyber fraud and track lost mobile phones. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said during the launch of this app that customer privacy and security is the main focus of this app. Sanchar Saathi portal, which was launched in 2023, has been quite effective so far.

Intra Circle Roaming Facility

The government has introduced another facility named Intra Circle Roaming (ICR). In this, 4G mobile sites are being funded under Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN). Now users of any network can access 4G services through a single DBN-funded tower.
These new initiatives will protect mobile users from scams and frauds and make digital communications more secure.
