Manipur Attack: At least ten militants were killed in an encounter with CRPF personnel in Manipur’s Jiribam district. This gunfight started when the militants attacked the CRPF camp.
Manipur Attack: A CRPF jawan was also injured in the encounter. He was airlifted to hospital.
In Manipur, since May last year, more than 200 people have been killed and thousands displaced from their homes in caste violence in the Kuki area of Meitei and the surrounding hills in Imphal.
Along this beach, militants of the rebels set fire to several shops in the Borobekra subdivision.
The militants fired several rounds at the Borobekra police station around 2.30 pm and then set fire to the Jakurador Karong area.
Manipur Attack: Attacks on Farmers
On Monday morning, a farmer was injured in Manipur’s Imphal East district when militants from nearby hilly areas opened fire on farmers.
This was the third consecutive day when militants from hilly areas attacked farmers in the Imphal Valley. Security forces immediately reached the spot and opened fire in retaliation, after which a series of firing and ammunition continued for some time.
The injured farmer was taken to Yaingangpokpi PHC for treatment and is now out of danger.
Manipur Attack: Arms seizure
Security forces have seized several weapons, ammunitions and IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) during search operations in hill and valley districts of Manipur over the past three days, Assam Rifles said in a statement today.
On Saturday, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur police seized a .303 rifle, two 9 mm pistols, six single barrel rifles, a .22 rifle, ammunitions and other war material during an operation in the jungle of L Khonomphai village in Churachandpur district, the statement said.
In another operation, carried out between S Choungoubung and Maohing in Kangpokpi district, a 5.56mm INSAS rifle, a .303 rifle, two SBBL guns, two .22 pistols, two improvised projectile launchers, grenades and ammunitions were also seized.
