IPL 2025 auction: The IPL 2025 auction will be held on 24 and 25 November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The auction program will be held at the Abadi Al Johar Arena (also known as Benchmark Arena) in Jeddah. Also, Hotel Shangri-La, which is 10 minutes away from here, will provide accommodation for players and others.
IPL 2025 auction: The dates for the mega auction of IPL 2025 have been announced. This auction will take place on 24 and 25 November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The auction event will be held at Abadi Al Johar Arena (also known as Benchmark Arena). Also, accommodation for players and others will be arranged at Hotel Shangri-La, which is just 10 minutes away from here. The IPL Authority has also informed that their operations team will contact all the players and staff for visa and logistics requirements.
Actually, all the 10 franchises had released the list of their retained players. After that everyone was waiting for the announcement of the auction dates. Crores of cricket fans were waiting for this moment. Now when the dates are announced, everyone is excited to see how much bidding which franchise will make on which player. Before the official announcement of the auction date and venue, it was being said that the auction of players will take place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. But now the auction will take place in Jeddah.
A total of 1574 cricketers, including 1165 Indian players, have registered for the IPL 2025 auction.
The 10 franchises will have a budget of spending Rs 641.5 crore.
Let us tell you that this year’s auction is quite big, which will include India’s high-profile stars like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep Singh. The 10 franchises will have a total budget of Rs 641.5 crore for 204 slots. Out of these 204 slots, 70 are reserved for foreign players. So far, the 10 franchises have retained 46 players, whose total expenses are Rs 558.5 crore.

BCCI has changed the retention rules.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently announced new rules regarding retention. According to this, a franchise can retain a maximum of 6 players. If a team retains less than 6 players, then in such a case the franchise will get an opportunity to use the Right to Match (RTM) card during the auction.
