Honey Bunny Citadel : Citadel Honey Bunny review: So, what will happen to Varun Dhawan? Looks like he is getting ready for his Terminator avatar, which is going to kick-start the next season. But this time, the entire spotlight is on Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Honey Bunny Citadel FIRST Review Out: First of all, salute the entry of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is Indian cinema’s first real female action star who always keeps our attention with her, and never loses her grip throughout the entire six-part series of Citadel: Honey Bunny. She is ready for action, appears on screen in every scene when the script requires it, and this demand remains consistently high throughout the entire series.
Honey Bunny Citadel: A Perfect Blend of Family and Spy Thriller
Samantha’s Honey is a perfect mix of family woman and spy, who can do anything to save her daughter. The best part of this entire enterprise is Samantha’s Honey, directed and written by Raj and DK (Sita Menon is also given credit for writing and directing), and executive produced by Russo Bros.
I was waiting for his return after he gave his amazing performance in Family Man Season 2, in which he left his chhapi in every scene. Here, things change when something drastic happens with him and his very sharp-minded daughter Nadia (Kashvi Majmundar), and then the story moves forward: rest of the characters, like Varun Dhawan’s Bunny, come when he has set the scene.
Honey Bunny Citadel: Samantha’s Honey and Varun Dhawan’s Struggles in a Clunky Action Series
Unlike many female stars who do a little action, Samantha’s Honey jumps on the track and stays there, even if the series weakens in itself at times. The 2023 Citadel prequel with Priyanka Chopra Jonas is much better than that, but the mix of movie buff by director duo Raj and DK, which was a balance of humour and seriousness, comedy and action, seems a bit clunky and forced. Because of this, the zing of Family Man is missed here and the show sometimes goes well and sometimes stops.
Honey and Bunny meet on a film set, where Honey has come to Mumbai to act and Bunny is a daring stuntman. Then the story goes in a dark direction, which ends with Honey becoming an ‘agent’, just like Bunny. Varun Dhawan tries his best to get into his character and shows his daring stunts in many sequences, but he has to face a performer who is way ahead in making us understand this absurdity in reality.
Honey Bunny Citadel: Spy Story with a Twist , A Focus on Unconventional Characters and Dull Interplay
The word ‘Agent’ leads to Baba’s (Kay Kay Menon) deep state surveillance and arms agency, where some of the guys are wearing sideburns and bell-bottom pants (this look doesn’t evoke the ’90s like Guns and Roses, but is still a part of it).
But these spies don’t have the toughness one should have as a spy. As per Bollywood’s top star, Varun Dhawan’s character Rahi aka Bunny leads, with a quick-on-his-feet backup (Shivankit Singh Parihar) and a jokey computer nerd (Soham Majumdar; is there any other type?).This trio could be a trio in any spy story, but what is important is separating the grain from the chaff – which is to stand out.
A distinctive strand is found, where our focus becomes sharp. A respected Indian scientist comes to the Belgrade convention with a device that can save the world.
This device that can save the world is old from the days of Bond,
but the play between the scientist (Thalaivasai Vijay) and Honey is a little fresh. Then the story turns dull again, when the dull interplay of another set of characters begins, in which Simran is the leader and Sikander Kher is the chief follower. Baba’s younger follower Saqib Saleem, who is in love with Bunny, gets a strange lone ranger role. The dullness increases further.
In the finale, Honey has to come to save Nadia’s ‘daughter’ – who is named after Fearless Nadia (his mother’s favourite actor), and Priyanka has shown her grown-up avatar in this role. And, she rescues her. As for the rest, what about Varun Dhawan? He is getting ready for his Terminator avatar, which seems to be going to kick-start in the next season. But in this season, Samantha is dominating everything.
