Aryan Bangar : Anaya’s Journey ,From Professional Cricket to Embracing Authenticity”
“Fulfilling the dream of playing professional cricket has been a journey full of sacrifice, resilience and dedication. Going to the field early in the morning, facing the doubts and judgements of others – every step required strength,” Aryan (now Anaya) wrote in the caption.
“But apart from the game, I had another journey. A path of self-discovery, in which I faced many challenges. Owning my authenticity meant making some difficult choices, leaving my comfort zone, and standing up for myself, even if it was not easy. Today, I feel proud that I am a part of the sport I love, at any level or category, not just as an athlete, but in my true form. The path was not easy, but finding my authenticity is my biggest victory,” Anaya added.
Aryan Bangar : Anaya Reflects on Her HRT Journey and the ICC’s New Regulations on Transgender Athletes
In her latest Instagram post, Anaya shared how 11 months of HRT helped her reduce dysphoria and feel a new kind of happiness. “Strength is decreasing but happiness is increasing. Body is changing, dysphoria is decreasing… it is still a long journey but each step feels a little more like mine,” is the caption of Anaya’s latest Instagram post.
Anaya’s viral post comes after the recent regulatory changes made by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding transgender women. The apex cricket body has made a statement that now transgender athletes will not be able to participate in women’s cricket. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have also adopted rules such as not allowing transgender women to participate in women’s cricket in Tiers 1 and 2 of international and elite domestic competitions.
On Instagram, Anaya expressed her frustration and said, “Being a trans athlete is very difficult.”
