Delhi Airport Latest News: Special Facilities for Passengers During Delays
GMR and DIAL, the companies responsible for the operation and management of Delhi Airport, have come up with a new initiative to offer special facilities to passengers during fog, bad weather, or technical issues. As part of this scheme, passengers will be allowed to disembark from the aircraft and return to the terminal if their flights are delayed or canceled for more than three hours.

Regarding this initiative, CEO of DIAL, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, said, “DIAL is working on a plan to further improve the experience of passengers at Delhi Airport. The aim of this new initiative is to reduce the time taken in the disembarkation and boarding process for passengers whose flights are affected by fog, weather, or technical issues.”
Airport Latest News : What is Included in DIAL’s New Initiative?
Currently, GMR Airports Limited and its subsidiary, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which manages and operates Delhi Airport, are working on creating special enclosures or zones at each terminal to help passengers who can go back inside the terminal.
The new initiative will include developing these zones at bus boarding gates in Terminal 3, some aerobridges, the transfer area in Terminal 2, and bus boarding gates in Terminal 1.
According to a statement by DIAL, both domestic and international passengers will be able to benefit from this facility. These enclosures, ranging from 250 to 450 square meters, will be able to accommodate 55 to 120 passengers at a time.
The primary purpose behind the creation of these zones is to make the security check process smoother, allowing passengers to enter the terminal’s Security Hold Area (SHA) with ease.
Once developed, these special zones will provide essential facilities like toilets and vending machines for passengers during flight delays. Only stranded passengers and airline employees will be allowed to use these facilities.
CISF personnel will also be deployed to ensure the safety of passengers in the special zones. These personnel will screen passengers returning from delayed flights before allowing them to join other screened passengers in the SHA.
Additionally, Private Security Agency (PSA) personnel will verify the documents of passengers impacted by fog, weather, or technical problems.
This initiative will greatly reduce the time required to take passengers to the reverse entry point and boarding area after they deboard their aircraft.
