Maha Kumbh : More than 40 crore people are expected to attend the Maha Kumbh, which is going to be held in Prayagraj from 13 January to 26 February. Key bathing days are 14 January, 29 January, and 3 February. Indian Railways will run 13,000 trains and Prayagraj airport has also increased flights so that more people can be accommodated.

When and where is Maha Kumbh happening?
Mahakumbh will run for 45 days, from 13 January to 26 February, in Prayagraj. The main ‘Shahi Snan’ days are Makar Sankranti (14 January), Mauni Amavasya (29 January), and Basant Panchami (3 February). There is a possibility of more devotees footfall on these days.
There is also an increase in flights
Prayagraj airport has done a lot of developments after the last Mahakumbh and approval was also sought for international flights in October 2024. Aviation will contribute a lot this time – airlines have added many new flights for Mahakumbh. According to the data shared with Mint, Prayagraj will get 117 weekly flights in the first week of February. This number is much more than December.
• SpiceJet will now operate 35 weekly flights to Prayagraj, which was zero earlier. These flights will operate daily from Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
• Alliance Air, which currently operates Delhi-Prayagraj flights, has added new routes. Now it will also connect Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Dehradun.
• IndiGo and Akasa Air have also made plans to increase their capacity.
Indian Railways will operate 13,000 trains
Indian Railways has planned to operate approximately 13,000 trains during Maha Kumbh. This includes 10,000 regular and 3,000 special trains.
“Railway authorities have also planned 3 special trains for Katra-Prayagraj. The first special train will run from Katra Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station to Prayagraj on 24 January and will return from Prayagraj to Katra on 26 January,” said Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
