Tuesday Morning AQI Reached 427

The air of the National Capital Region (NCR) has once again come into the ‘severe’ category. On Tuesday morning, the AQI level reached 427, and some monitoring stations even recorded an AQI above 450, which is considered ‘severe plus’.

Effect of Severe AQI: Harmful for Everyone

There is no hope of improvement at present.

Visibility also decreased

According to the update of the weather department, the air became heavy due to calm winds in the last 24 hours. Visibility in Palam area has dropped from 800 meters to 350 meters, which falls in the category of moderate fog. Similar conditions were seen in Safdarjung as well.

GRAP Stage 4: Strict action taken

Ban imposed on construction

Seeing the deteriorating quality of air, the Centre’s Air Quality Panel activated GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) Stage 4 on Monday. This is the strictest stage of winter pollution control. The following actions have been taken under it:

Construction Activities: All construction work has been completely banned.

Polluting Trucks: Entry of polluting trucks carrying non-essential goods has been banned in Delhi.

Schools Shifting: School classes (except 10th and 12th) have been ordered to shift to a mandatory hybrid mode.

Winter weather and unfavourable air conditions are making the fight against pollution more difficult.
