One thing that you must know is that the facility to change the name on the ticket is available only on offline tickets. Meaning, this facility is available only on those tickets which you have booked from the reservation counter. Another special thing is that on this ticket you can change the name of your close ones and family members in place of your name.
For example, you can put the name of your parents, siblings, or your son or daughter in place of your name. If any group of students or officers has booked their group ticket, then the option to change the name is available for them too.

1. First of all, you have to go to the railway ticket reservation counter. Keep in mind that you must reach there 24 hours before the departure of the train. So go to your nearest railway reservation counter.
2. You have to apply in writing to change the name.
3. If the ticket is in your name, then you have to give your ID and the ID of the person in whose name the ticket is to be booked.
4. Then, after taking all the necessary documents, the railway officer puts the name of the new passenger on the ticket.

1. If you have bought the ticket offline, i.e. from the counter, then you will have to go to the reservation counter with your ticket 48 hours before the departure of the train.
2. There you can get the travel date changed by giving your original ticket, or else you will have to apply later.
3. After that, the railway employee at the counter will change your date and give you a new ticket.
The facility to change the date or name is not available on online tickets. Another important thing is that the option to change the travel date is available only on confirmed or RAC tickets. That is, this facility is not available on Tatkal tickets. A passenger can change his travel date only once, and that too only when it is available.
