Fungal Cyclone: Many airlines have issued travel advisory regarding their schedules as the storm’s landfall near Tamil Nadu is causing heavy rainfall in the region.

Due to bad weather in Chennai and the surrounding areas, Cyclone Fengal is likely to make landfall in Tamil Nadu by today evening. Due to this, many flights to and from Chennai on Friday have been affected.

Chennai airport has been temporarily closed till 7 pm, as heavy rains and strong winds continued even before the landfall of Cyclone Fengal.

Air India shared an update on X and said, “Flights to and from Chennai are being affected due to bad weather and heavy rains.”

IndiGo also issued a travel advisory in which they said that flights in several areas like Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Tuticorin, Madurai, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam have been affected. The airline’s post said, “The current weather conditions are affecting flights to Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Tuticorin, Madurai as well as Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.”

It was also informed at the Chennai Airport’s X handle that IndiGo has temporarily suspended all its arrival and departure operations due to the poor weather. The statement said, “IndiGo Airlines @IndiGo6E has temporarily suspended all arrival and departure operations at Chennai Airport. As soon as the weather improves, flight operations will be resumed keeping safety in mind. Passengers are requested to contact their airlines for real-time updates.”
