If they are broken, apart from a fine, action can also be taken to seize the tractor-trolley.

Sub-Divisional Transport Officer Shanti Bhushan Pandey said that mostly tractors are registered only for agricultural work, which can be used only for agricultural work. If the tractor-trolley is used for commercial purposes, then action can be taken against the tractor owner, in which the farmer can have to pay a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh.

If tractor-trolley is being used for commercial purposes, then action is taken for overloading, fitness and permit and a fine is imposed. If overloading goods are being loaded even during agricultural work, then there is a provision to collect fine from the farmers as well.

If tractor-trolley is being used for carrying passengers other than agricultural work, then a fine of Rs 2200 per passenger can be taken from the tractor owner. Passengers cannot be carried in any unauthorised vehicle.

No change can be made in the basic structure of the tractor. If any change is made in the basic structure, then there is a provision to collect a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh from the tractor owner.

A driving licence is necessary to drive any vehicle. Similarly, a driving licence is also required to drive a tractor. Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence holders are eligible to drive a tractor. Vehicles weighing up to 7500 kg can be driven with the LMV licence.

It is also necessary to register the trolley along with the tractor. If the trolley is being driven against the rules, then apart from seizing the trolley, a fine can also be imposed on the farmers.
